The best thing about this hotel is its location. It is just about 30 seconds walk from Old Town Square, and a minute or two to Charles Bridge. The staff was also very pleasant and helpful, and fluent in English. Overall, the service was excellent. But..I was a little disappointed in other aspects of the hotel. Our room was a Deluxe suite, which had a sitting area and a large bathroom, but I would hardly call it deluxe. The ""antique"" furniture looked more like a mish-mash of garage sale items which were in poor condition. Our ""king-size"" bed was not very comfortable (two twins stuck together), and the room was minimally and poorly decorated. (not like the photos!) We saw several other rooms in the hotel which all looked the same. (also not like the photos on the web site!) The ""satellite"" TV was only 3 stations, without any English speaking programs. Also, don't bother to take any DVD's with you. They won't work there. I was also a little surprised with how it was difficult to get to our room. We had to meander through the hotel, and walk up and down several stairways to reach our room after leaving the elevator. That would seem to make it difficult for anyone older or with disabilities. Also...no room service, except a small breakfast offering. The breakfast buffet was also not worth the 25 dollar pricetag. (better to get something outside the hotel) The new hotel restaurant in the lower level, in spite of being a little pricey, was excellent. The live jazz two nights a week was really great. Anyone who has traveled very much and has stayed in 4 and 5 star hotels would agree that this hotel does not meet those standards, but the location is PERFECT.

The best thing about this hotel is its location. It is nearly centered in the area with most of the interesting sites, shopping and restaurants. (only 30 second walk to the Old Town Square) I was a little disapponted with the hotel's 5 star rating. Our room was a Deluxe Suite, which had a bedroom with a ""king size"" bed (two twins pushed together), a sitting area, and a large bathroom. It had two TV's, but the ""satellite"" television consisted of three stations of Czech-language programs only. And, don't bother taking any DVD's with you, they will not work on the hotel's DVD players unless they are purchased in Eastern Europe. The room was in OK condition, but the ""antiques"" in the room looked more like an unplanned conglomeration of cheap garage sale furniture. Obviuosly, we did not have anything in our suite that looked like the photographs. It was very plain and undecorated. The other rooms we looked at while moving through the hotel looked pretty much the same. (do the website rooms exist?) If you are an older person, or a person with any disability, this would also not be a good hotel. The meandering path to our room involved several stairways (after leaving the elevator). We saw a few older couples having a little difficulty getting around. There was also no room service, except for minimal breakfast offerings. The good things we noted were the pleasant and helpful staff ( all spoke English), and the new hotel restaurant in the lower level that was fantastic. (with live Jazz two nights a week) We would probably stay in this hotel again, because of its location, but we would have to remember that it is about a 2 or 3 star hotel by most traveler's standards.

Staying just five nights in Prague, we couldn't have picked a better hotel for convenience or comfort. Found it through Travelocity so the nightly rate was much lower than the hotel's posted rate. From the welcome champagne at check-in, to the courtyard, convenient breakfast, lounge with computer, books, newspapers and leather couches, it exceeded our expectations. The double room is practically a full apartment, with a living room, kitchen contained in a lovely armoire, and very modern bathroom. Surprised to have two televisions with DVD players and movies available from the front desk at no charge. Quiet rooms are off the courtyard rather than street. Above all, the staff was extraordinary in their welcome, level of service and attention to every detail. Every quarter of Prague was easily walkable from the Iron Gate except Prague Castle. That's a hike. But the Old Town square is a short stroll outside the door, the Charles Bridge and lower Quarter are a nice walk, and the Jewish Quarter is convenient to several art museums and other cultural sites.
